How Can severe Ulcerative Colitis Be Treated?

I have ulcertive colitis and lately I ve had changes in bowel color from white to brown with blood and every time I wipe I have a brownish black mucus. Is this something I should worry about or is it just part of ulcerative colitis.. of course I m still bloated and gassy all the time.
